Hanoi [Vietnam], July 24: "I've always wanted my children to know how to bow to their teachers, to express their gratitude sincerely, and to appreciate those who have taken the time to teach them," Khanh Thi shared her perspective on parenting.
Khanh Thi shared that many people wonder why she doesn't directly coach her son so he can become more skilled. Regarding this, the female champion said that the first thing she wants to teach Kubi isn't technique, but ethics and gratitude. Because she believes: "I always want my son to know how to bow to his teachers, to express his gratitude sincerely, and to appreciate those who have taken the time to teach him."
According to Khanh Thi , skills can be learned later, achievements can come later, but without kindness and gratitude, even the greatest success is unlikely to last. The female champion added: "Later, when my child is old enough, I can create my own lesson plans and train them systematically. But today, the first thing I want my child to learn is how to be a kind person."
Khanh Thi shared that her biggest concern isn't just for her son, but for many young people working as coaches and even competitive athletes. According to her, many people today are good at saying thank you when they need help, but forget to say it when they've achieved what they wanted. Khanh Thi further shared: "A sincere thank you doesn't make us smaller; what reveals our true colors is pettiness burning away kindness. Conversely, knowing how to express sincere gratitude is what makes others want to continue accompanying you. Because ultimately, what keeps a person successful is not just talent, but also character."
Khanh Thi sends a touching message to her son.
Earlier, Khanh Thi also posted a long message sharing about her son turning 11. She said that this year, Kubi celebrated his birthday in China, amidst competition days filled with exciting experiences. "Watching him pull his suitcase, go to the training floor, and step into the competition arena, we felt both affection and pride. Perhaps because he was born in the summer, he rarely had a proper birthday party with friends. And also because he followed in his parents' footsteps, for four consecutive years, his birthday has fallen right into the competition season," she shared.
According to Khanh Thi, her son's childhood was filled with flights, training sessions, and competitions, so sometimes "the birthday cake was hastily blown out in a place very far from home." Speaking further about her son, the female champion expressed her appreciation for his efforts. She said: "Even though he's young, he already knows how to strive, how to be disciplined, how to overcome pressure, and he has never complained about having to celebrate his birthday on the competition floor instead of with family and friends."
Previously, Kubi, whose real name is Minh Cuong, born in 2015, attracted attention when he and his dance partner Linh San won 8 gold medals at the 2026 Asian Dancesport Championships. Expressing her views on raising her child, the female champion shared that she doesn't expect her son to be the best. Instead, she and her husband only hope that Kubi will always be a kind, healthy boy who knows how to love others and always strives his best in whatever he chooses. "Mom and Dad always love you, always support you, and will always be the proudest people about you," she said.
