Hanoi [Vietnam], September 18: Three years after her first leading role on the big screen, DJ Mie returns with 'Near-Perfect Murder'. The actress said she read all the audience feedback from her previous project and spent a lot of time refining her skills for the new work.
On the afternoon of September 17th, the cast and production team of the film " Almost Perfect Murder " held its official premiere in Ho Chi Minh City. Directed by Duc Nguyen, the film tells the story of Trinh ( played by Mie ), a TikToker who unexpectedly wakes up on a film set to find the lifeless body of actress Yen (played by Vu Ngoc Anh), stabbed in the chest. Unable to remember what happened, Trinh seeks out detective Dai (Anh Tu Atus) to clear her name, and they become entangled in a series of bizarre situations. The near-perfect murder marks DJ Mie's second leading role in her acting career, following the horror film * The Dog Demon * (released in 2023, grossing over 108 billion VND). Sharing at the event, the 31-year-old actress said that after her first leading role on the big screen, she read all the comments and feedback, both positive and negative, from the audience. She then dedicated time to honing her acting skills by attending various courses and learning from those around her. The actress stated that she always strives to improve her acting skills to truly suit the requirements of each role.
Speaking about how she landed the role of Trinh in "Almost Perfect Murder ," Mie said that after a long period of studying and self-reflection, she received several scripts. But it wasn't until she came across this script, read about the role of Trinh, and found some common ground that the young actress decided to meet with director Duc Nguyen. "He showed me many different sides of Trinh; the character appears energetic and lively on the outside, but deep down she has many pitiable qualities and aspects similar to myself. After that, I auditioned and was chosen," the 9X actress recalled.
Regarding director Duc Nguyen, he said he was impressed with Mie during the casting process, as she appeared radiant. During the audition, the filmmaker felt that the actress's energy was very close to the character Trinh he was looking for. "I wanted the humor in this film to come from the character's charm and the chemistry between Trinh and Dai. So I really needed a character with the same energy, someone who could 'give Dai a piece of their mind.' When auditioning, Mie was the 'crazy without shame,' and I felt that energy was perfect for the role," the director of "Almost Perfect Murder" recounted.
Duc Nguyen also shared that before the audition, he and Mie had discussed various aspects of the character, from her dark side, circumstances, and past. The director also assessed that the female lead character has a bright, cheerful appearance but deep inside harbors many hidden sorrows and secrets. "The character Trinh has an obsession stemming from pain that both Mie and I deeply empathize with. When watching the film, I hope everyone will recognize that feeling," he added.
