Damascus [Syria], June 3: Three people were killed and 21 others wounded on Thursday when a civilian passenger bus was attacked in south of Syria's eastern province of Deir al-Zour, state news agency SANA reported.
The bus was on the road from Aleppo City in northern Syria to Deir al-Zour, said SANA, adding the attack took place in the Shoula area south of Deir al-Zour.
The wounded people and the bodies of the victims were taken to the Assad hospital in the provincial capital of Deir al-Zour, the report said.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war monitor, said the Islamic State (IS) group was behind the attack. It put the death toll at four.
This is the latest in a series of IS ambushes and attacks in Deir al-Zour that targeted Syrian pro-government militants, military personnel, and civilian buses.
On May 18, two Syrian soldiers were killed by an IS attack in Deir al-Zour.
