Islamabad [Pakistan], September 25: At least 29 people received minor injuries when a passenger train collided with a parked freight train in central Punjab province in Pakistan, officials have said.
The accident occurred in the early morning near the eastern city of Lahore when Mianwali Express rammed into a freight train parked in the loop line at QilaSattar Shah station.
"The reason for the accident is not known yet," Farooq Ahmad, a spokesperson for the rescue department, told DPA on Sunday.
Ahmad said two passengers were taken to hospital for treatment.
Deadly train accidents are common in Pakistan, resulting in hundreds of deaths every year, due to poor infrastructure and negligence.
In August, at least 30 people were killed and about 80 others injured when a train derailed in southern Pakistani province of Sindh. (DPA)
